In the aftermath of the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, India is not only grappling with national security concerns on the ground but also facing a significant rise in cyber threats. Authorities have confirmed that over one million cyber attacks have been recorded across the country since the incident, raising fears of an emerging cyber war.
According to the Maharashtra Cyber Police, these attacks are believed to have originated from multiple countries, including Pakistan, Central Asian nations, Indonesia, and Morocco. Many of the cyber assaults specifically targeted Indian websites and digital infrastructure.
**Cyber Threats Linked to Islamic Groups**
Senior officials have indicated a marked increase in cyber attack activity since April 22. Yashasvi Yadav, Additional Director General of the Maharashtra Cyber Department, stated that various hacking groups involved have claimed affiliation with Islamic organizations. This, he noted, points to a possible organized cyber offensive against India.

Fortunately, many of these attacks were intercepted and neutralized by the state’s cybercrime investigation units. However, security agencies remain on high alert as the threat of further digital aggression persists.
