Have you ever wondered what your cat’s meow or your dog’s bark really means? That may soon no longer be just a fantasy. Chinese tech company **Baidu** is developing an AI system that could help humans understand the “language” of animals. Baidu has recently filed a patent with the **China National Intellectual Property Administration**, which outlines a technology designed to translate animal sounds, behaviors, and physical signals into human language.

According to Baidu, the AI system will first record animal sounds like meows and barks. It will also monitor their movements and physical indicators such as heart rate. By analyzing this combined data, the AI will try to determine whether the animal is happy, scared, or hungry. The system will then convert these emotions into human words or sentences, enabling deeper communication between humans and animals than ever before.
In the patent, Baidu states that this technology aims to “enhance emotional interaction and understanding between humans and animals, improving the accuracy and efficiency of interspecies communication.” The company clarified that the project is still in the research phase, and there is no set timeline for its launch.
Baidu isn’t the only one exploring this frontier. Scientists around the world are using AI to decode animal communication systems. For example, **Project CETI (Cetacean Translation Initiative)** is focused on understanding whale conversations, while the **Earth Species Project** is working to decode the “language” of various animals.
