भाजपा राष्ट्रीय मंत्री व पूर्वी दिल्ली सांसद के निवेदन पर रेलवे द्वारा गीता कॉलोनी के लोहा पुल के मरम्मत का कार्य आरंभ कर दिया गया है। ज्ञात हो कि यह पूल लगभग 100 वर्षो से भी अधिक समय का बना हुआ है। इस कार्य हेतु 2 सालो से इस विषय में रेलवे मंत्री व चेयरमैन साथ सांसद ने बैठके भी की। रेलवे ने अब इस कार्य हेतु 10 करोड़ रुपये स्वीकृत किये जिससे यह कार्य आरंभ हो पाया है।
सांसद गिरी के कहा कि मेरी जानकारी में आया था कि लोहा पूल जर्जर स्थिति में है। जगह जगह से ये पूल टूटा हुआ है तथा ऊपर से गुजरने वाली 2 रेल पटरियों की कवर प्लेट जगह जगह टूटी गई थी। नीचे से गुजरने वाले यात्रियों को ट्रेन के वहाँ से गुजरने वक्त उसके मलमूत्र तथा कचरे से बचने के लिए पूल से पहले ही रुकना पड़ता था। जिससे जाम की स्थिति भी उत्पन्न हो जाती थी। पूल की सड़क व साईकल ट्रैक की स्थिति भी दयनीय अथवा जगह जगह गढ्ढो हो चुके थे। परंतु अब मरम्मत का कार्य आरंभ होना वहाँ से आवागमन करने वाले यात्रियों के लिए प्रसन्ता का विषय है।
अब लोहा पूल के ऊपर से गुजरने वाली पटरियों के नीचे कवर प्लेट, साईकल ट्रैक मरम्मत का कार्य, मुख्य आवागमन सड़क के मरम्मत का कार्य, पूल के दोनों ओर जाली लगाने का कार्य आदि किया जाएगा।
सांसद ने बताया कि पूल के ऊपर अक्सर सिग्नल न मिलने के कारण ट्रैन को रोक दिया जाता है। ट्रैन के रुकने पर पटरियों की कवर प्लेटो काफी मात्रा में मल-मूत्र व पानी गिरकर जमा हो जाता है। इससे उन प्लेटो पर जल्दी जंग लग जाता है। सांसद ने पत्र द्वारा रेलवे चेयरमैन से यह निवेदन किया है कि कोई ऐसी व्यवस्था कर जिससे ट्रेनों को पूल के ऊपर न रोकना पड़े। ऐसे करने से वह प्लेट कुछ ज्यादा चलेगी तथा जंग लगने व सड़ने से उसे रोका जा सकेगा।

The work has commenced to repair 100 years Old iron bridge situated at Geeta Colony by the Railways worth 10 crs. Maheish Girri, MP of East Delhi was continuously making efforts in this direction since last two years by having meetings with the Railway Minister and the Chairman and now the railways has allocated funds worth 10 crores due to which the work has been initiated.
The MP said that he got to know that the iron bridge was in bad condition since it was damaged at many places and very importantly cover plates of the railway tracks were broken at number of locations. The pedestrians who used to pass from underneath the bridge had to wait below for sometime to avoid garbage coming out of the train which many times would result into traffic jams. But the revival work has given a relief to the local people.
Revival work would be covering repairing of two railway platforms, cycle tracks and two way roads including net will be put on both sides of the bridges for protection.
The MP further said that many times the trains halt on the bridge, during this time lot of garbage and other waste material gets collected on the cover plates of platform and it causes rusting of plates. The MP requested the railway chairperson to make mechanism so that train does not have to wait for signal over the bridge which would reduce the depreciation in the quality of plates and they would last for long time.
